Ty Bowman was the artist in residence at the Grand Canyon National Park from Sept. 1-21, 2014. He presented two lectures during his residency emphasizing the need for a shift in awareness of such issues as global warming and CO2 pollution. His photographs exemplify an appreciation of Nature which is a starting point to living ecologically within our means. Bowman will also present a lecture at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA on Oct. 21, 2014.

The Grand Canyon is a beautiful and powerful place but also a state of mind where Nature is alive deep within us. To love Nature is to love oneself because we are the Earth. Pollution of the Earth is a spiritual problem, a contamination of the human spirit. Understanding our connection with Nature is the first step in overcoming our naivete and preserving life in the bioshpere for generations. Can we adapt to become the species of the wisest?
